Why should I study?

Speaking of me, my main business is to develop a system that accompanies the educational evaluation service. Of course, some children can and cannot study. You may wonder what separates it. There is no doubt that the family environment and innate things also have an effect, but the motivation for studying has a great influence on the attitude such as interest, motivation, and positivity when working on studying, and it directly divides the inability to study. I think it is a factor. I thought about some sort of motivation for studying.

I could hardly understand the meaning of why I learned through elementary, junior high and high school and why I had to study. Therefore, my study results were not so good. Since it is compulsory education, I have to go to school to study, so both parents and children went to school without any doubt. I think I went to school every day and continued to study like a hard job. Parents just ask them to study, but they don't explain much why they have to study. However, parents regretted the difficulty of having no educational background, the lack of an environment for studying, and the lack of studying in society. Perhaps it was only the wishes of parents to acquire academic ability or educational background. There must have been more wishes and expectations, but many did not speak. I don't want my child to have a hard time like myself. That feeling is called parenthood, but the child cannot convey the feeling of that parent.

I didn't know the wisdom tooth of the parent, but I think it was also the wisdom tooth of the child.

It is fine for children who are "made" who can work hard at the recommendation of their parents or teachers. Children who can enjoy studying and exploring with their true intellectual curiosity are even better. A talented child who can study without much effort may still be fine. Then, what should we do for children who do not feel like studying by themselves, and children who do not feel like studying? Why learn If the answer becomes clear, it would be good news for children who are wondering about it, as they did. Isn't it necessary to have a fundamental or other motivation for studying?

Why do we have to learn?

Some children may not find the meaning or motivation to learn, while others may improve their grades or pass the school of their choice. Why do I have to study? Probably there is no correct answer. There is an answer for each individual, and there is "my reason". However, there may be a common meaning of learning.

In children's attitude surveys, the top motivations for studying are to gain greater freedom and to achieve self-actualization. You need "power" to expand your "freedom". It is called "learning power". The reason for learning is to learn how to learn. However, just as freedom has "individual freedom" and "social freedom", learning involves the duality of learning for oneself or for society. Is it meaningful to learn for yourself, or is it more valuable to learn for other people, not for yourself, but for society? (Not just for the nation or the company)

If the reason for learning became clear, it was communicated to the children, and they were convinced and sympathized, they would be willing to endure the difficulty of learning and make the right efforts.

It is said that studying is to gather knowledge / wisdom, skills / experience to survive. To understand the situation you are in and acquire the ability to look ahead. I'm worried about something I don't know, so I try to know it, and it's fun to know. That is said to be the origin of human intellectual desire. So where do human intellectual desires come from and what are we aiming for? Is it the work of DNA for human beings to survive? Why does the learning DNA vary from person to person?

That's why I tried to collect the reasons for learning and studying.

2. Personal reasons for learning

When asked why he had to study, the following answers came out.

① To enter a good university, enter a good company, earn a high income and live a stable life.

(2) Most of human freedom can be bought with money. To make that money.

③ To expand your abilities and gain greater "freedom" to do what you want to do. For self-actualization.

④ To shine and shine. To make your life more enjoyable and meaningful. To make your life richer and more fulfilling.

⑤ From intellectual curiosity. From a pure desire to know what you don't understand.

⑥ Learn what you want to learn, not from your obligations. Do what you want to do.

⑦ Learn every day even as an adult. Naturally in a lifelong learning / knowledge-based society.

Learning is learning, which is "learning and learning." There is independence and independence there. On the other hand, studying has nuances such as "forced to study". In "learning", there is a greater willingness to explore knowledge, skills and methods than in "learning". The word "learning" is appropriate when thinking at the level of education, and I think that "learning" is expressed in the form of "study" at the child's personal level. Here we use learning and study as appropriate.

Why do I have to study? The answer to this question seems simple and self-explanatory, but as you move forward, you'll soon hit a wall. It turns out that this question is directly related to the question of why we work and why we live. Therefore, parents and children try to say "because it is compulsory education" and "study silently" without thinking about anything extra.

Children may obediently learn the motivation for studying. Some people long for a doctor to help someone who is suffering from an illness and want to study and become a good doctor. Some people want to be a driver who can carry a lot of people and operate trains safely and accurately. Each person wants to be an architect longing for the profession of designing and building wonderful buildings, longing for a carpenter who can build a house with his own skills, and deciding to become a kind nurse. You may think about your future profession based on your motives and work hard toward that goal. I think that studying with a dream of such a future job is the original study and learning. However, in reality, there are not many children who are motivated to study from the work they want to do in the future. By all means, although there is no choice but to answer, many children have no hope for the future or profession that they want to get, and they may endure studying as compulsory education. That would be unavoidable for children with little social experience.

Is stability-oriented the expectations of parents or the desires of children? In any case, stability is an inevitable motive in an uncertain era where the future cannot be seen. A straightforward and straightforward learning motive, "to make money," would be a very normal principle in a capitalist society. It is natural for those who actively try to live their lives as their own, to expand their freedom, realize themselves, be rewarded, and realize values such as a fulfilling life. In a capitalist society, it will be the driving force to move and advance the economic society.

The motivation for such a way of life and learning cannot be denied, but I feel something lonely. Even though there is something that I want to achieve, striving for work aimed at securing living funds, earning military funds, and even making money for that purpose is a reversal of purpose and means, or a fall and a toy mourning. It is good to work hard and study for qualifications and skills to get out of poor life and for a better life and life, but the human nature of a person who makes money and falls into money worship is sad.

Even if there is a good motivation for studying in compulsory education, studying is not possible unless the child accepts the motivation and necessity. Being capitalist, the human labor force remains a primitive commercial value. Studying hard, entering a good university, and entering a good company means increasing the value of your product, and in short, you can sell it at a high value as your own labor force. Therefore, parents tell their children to study to get a good university, a good company, and a good job in order to have a stable life and high income.

Whether you sell your own labor as a product or start a business with it, it is whether you can create higher added value, specifically whether you can get a high salary / reward. The question is whether you can make sales and make a profit. Is it possible for modern society to sustain a living only by selling human labor as a product or making money through labor and selling it as a product? It's possible to live like a sunny rain reading, but it's not recommended for everyone.

It is sad that the purpose of studying is to make money, as well as why you work. In a capitalist society, a significant portion of human life becomes a commodity and can be bought for money. Money is indispensable to live in this society. I understand it well.

There is a saying that studying is to secure greater freedom for oneself. If you have the freedom to choose a profession, you can choose a profession according to your abilities and aptitude. The bottom line is that you can broaden your choices for future jobs and expand your possibilities. To be sure, the expansion of human freedom is fascinating and a great encouragement for studying. In order to live a free life, you must have the ability to learn how to learn, gather the information you need to realize your freedom, acquire skills, solve problems, and execute strategies. Must-have. However, it is also true that many of the realizations of human freedom can be bought with money. What we always learn and continue to study will be to achieve both at the same time.

3. Community and collective reasons for learning

People learn not just for personal happiness and success. Since an individual's life cannot be established when he / she leaves the nation / society, it can be said that an individual can learn only for the nation / society. However, it is an unreasonable leap to assimilate an individual's purpose into the demands of the state and society, and while many are deceptive and illusionary, the transfer of knowledge, technology and culture to the next generation is persuasive.

① Study not only for yourself but also for the happiness of the group and others.

(2) To survive as a group and to pass on knowledge / wisdom, technology / experience.

③ For the development of society and community, peace and happiness, so that it can be passed on to the next generation.

④ To foster "qualities necessary as a nation and society former".

Education as a duty alone does not motivate children. Another motivation is needed. In the current state of education where individuality, independence and independence are respected and "zest for living" is required, disparities in the learning environment and academic ability are becoming conspicuous due to differences in the family environment and attitude toward learning.

Why do I have to work? Why do we have to live?

Personally, there are people who can study from the primitive intellectual curiosity of wanting to know what they do not understand. It is not only an individual characteristic, but also a natural human desire. Humans are said to be much more active and active than other animals. Therefore, human beings originated around the Great Rift Valley in Africa, and have spent 4 million years doing Great Johnny to every corner of the world to the present day. Humans would not have been able to conquer the world without the intellectual curiosity, no adventurous spirit, and exploratory spirit of wanting to master what they did not know and to find something unknown. Perhaps he has lived a stable life and has thrown himself into these adventures without regard for the dangers of life. These abilities and traits may be the nature of human beings. I think human beings are mysterious creatures.

It wasn't for the sake of the nation or society, but for the sake of family, loved ones, and those people. It's also for me, but first of all, the happiness of others You should bring it for you. Self-preserving orientation and other-oriented orientation may be the more fundamental driving forces toward learning.

Studying or working for oneself, for one's own profit or money, is a small and boring way of life. Studying for the nation, society, and even the company may have such a way of life, but it smells false and seems like a delusion. Study hard for the happiness of others, for the happiness of your neighbors, rather than for your own happiness. Become a doctor and save lives, become a teacher and teach for the future happiness of your child, deliver baggage for a happy smile, cook to see the delicious face of the eater, troubled I want to do welfare and nursing work to help people, grow crops, grow grass and trees, and work in contact with nature. I think that is the way of life, work, and learning of human beings as a kind. This is not compulsory. Children need to internalize this kind of demand somewhere.

Human beings are social and cannot live without a relationship with the community. So rather than learning and working for an individual, we learn and work for the group or community to which we belong. Individuals are aware of, undertake, and learn and work for the role they are expected to play in a group or community. Studying, like work, is for the happiness of others.

But for the more ideological public, not for the nation or the owner / manager's company embodied by the government of the time, for the common good, as a whole, overall well-being and balanced development. Isn't it learning and working for? Specifically, there may be an expression of learning motivation in the form of for family members and neighbors who wish to grow, for teachers and friends around them, for friends who work together, and to meet their expectations. think.

4. "Why Learn" -What is the Self to Realize?

By the way, many children and young people want to work for "self-actualization" and study for that purpose. He says that he does what he wants to do, what he wants to do, and what he wants to do. He wants to be able to demonstrate his abilities and do his own job. Such thoughts are not bad at all. I think it's wonderful to see yourself striving for your dreams and "self-actualization." But what is the "self" to be realized? Is it a self that deserves a lifetime bet? Are you training to acquire the effort and ability to do so? That kind of reflection is also necessary. Have a clear image of yourself to be realized, and study and strive for it. I want to be a doctor, I want to be a lawyer, I want to be a pharmacist or a nurse. I also want to be a professional soccer and baseball player. It must be desirable to have each person's dreams and hopes and to devote themselves to them.

However, in reality, even after graduating from high school or university, many young people may find themselves lost because they cannot find the "self" to realize. In addition, work aimed at self-actualization will often be frustrated in the real economic situation, competitive society, and corporate society.

Isn't it just a belief that there should be a "self" to be realized? I think it deviates from the actual way of life of human beings, which is to create "self" in life and work. For the time being, I try to get involved in a job that has something to do with it, and after working hard, I am expected to be recognized as a full-fledged person and take on a role, and I will take on that and work further to produce results. Know who you are from the accumulation of such work, human relationships up, down, left and right, and relationships with customers. You should not be afraid of failure. Failures and setbacks are a source of growth. I will hone my career by accumulating such failure experiences, knowledge, skills, information and know-how. From such a situation, I think I can see what I want to do and what I should realize. Before going through such a process of life, it is impossible to set the question of what the "self" should be realized. I have to study to acquire self-understanding of what I am, deep knowledge and understanding of work, how to carry out work, problem solving, creativity, ability to build relationships and social relationships, and such abilities. You have to keep learning.

Therefore, there cannot be one answer to the question "Why learn?"

In the current capitalist society, going out to work cannot escape from the form of getting a salary in exchange for one's own labor force. In general, a well-skilled, knowledgeable and qualified workforce can earn higher salaries. In modern society, the image of human resources required by companies is also diversifying. This is because, as the global economy progresses, companies are required to constantly reorganize and reform their business formats in order to survive. It is difficult to maintain a business format only with knowledge, skills, and loyalty to the company. Multinational employees, multilingual communication skills, creativity of corporate value, and the ability to survive in the corporate culture of English common language and meritocracy impose harsh trials on young Japanese people and "zest for life". And demand ability.

On the other hand, there are 3K workplaces (a little old) and companies called black companies. It is characterized by low wages, low welfare, long working hours, disposables, and death from overwork. It is a company that imposes wrinkles on workers and subcontractors to survive. With the fluidization of employment, the ability / performance principle will require workers to have a higher level of ability, and will distinguish between those who can respond well and those who cannot. Workers should acquire the ability to treat themselves with high professional ethics as well as legal knowledge such as labor law.

In a corporate society where not only basic and basic academic ability, but also communication ability, creativity, independent action ability, ability to utilize ITC tools, ability to speak multiple foreign languages, etc. are required, workers are their own. It is necessary to add high value to the workforce and prove that it has the ability to respond. Efforts are required to realize oneself through the labor, to do what one wants to do, and to obtain a job that can demonstrate one's abilities. It is required to fully apply the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired by studying hard to the work of the company and adapt it.

It is a premise in modern companies that a lot of time and effort in life is spent on work. Spending leisure time on hobbies and sports, studying and cultural preferences that you want to do, will require the ability to adjust well in relation to work. Values are asked as to what to prioritize using one's time, such as work, home, hobbies, and social contribution.

What is the self to be realized? How will it be realized? What did you want to do? You must always think about it, work, build relationships, and live your life. The ability to maintain oneself and respond well in any situation, problem-solving ability, and such ability are expected.

This applies not only when you are hired by a company, but also when you raise funds yourself and start a business. In modern times, the only way to do what you really want to do is to start your own business, although it is a difficult road.

Under such circumstances, there are many applicants for professionals who can work autonomously at any time. Most professions require national qualifications as they require a high degree of specialized knowledge. PhD degree, certified accountant, doctor, veterinarian, lawyer, first-class architect, pharmacist, dentist, real estate appraisal, patent attorney, engineer, social insurance labor consultant, tax accountant, senior ITC system analyst, etc. Is.

However, not everyone can get a profession if they wish. Not many people will be able to work independently and autonomously in such a profession.

When choosing a job, it is necessary to understand and be convinced of one's ability and aptitude. You also need to collect information about the type of job and the actual situation of the job. Then, select a job and actually work there. Through the accumulation of such careers, you will know who you are, imagine what you want to achieve, and formulate strategies and execution plans for that achievement.

Learning will be to learn all the ways to survive such a process of life. Why learn may be an itinerary to find a solution to why you work, why you live.

5. Looking at the legal provisions for education and learning

Education is said to be the total of 100 years of the nation. This is because the growth of the nation and society depends on the education of the young people who are responsible for it. It is not possible to simply make the "why you have to study" as a personal thought fit into the request of the state, but the request for public education from the side of the community of the state is summarized in the legal relationship. It will be helpful. I think it is difficult for people to be educated, to work in society, and to become a full-fledged nation / society former. When it comes to education, I'm amazed at how well Japanese law is.

The Constitution of Japan stipulates three obligations: labor, tax payment, and education. "Labor and tax payment" has been around since the time of the ancient nation, but the "education" obligation begins after the Meiji era. Under the current Constitution of Japan, it is the duty of the Japanese people to receive education.

The Constitution of Japan

Article 26

1. All citizens have the right to equal education according to their abilities, as required by law.

2. All citizens are obliged to have their children receive general education as required by law. Compulsory education is free of charge.

Article 26 stipulates "the right to receive education" and "the obligation to receive education". From the standpoint of the people, they have the "right to education" and at the same time have the "duty" to the state, local governments and parents to receive 9 years of general education. Indeed, education is both a right and an obligation.

Under the provisions of the Constitution, the Fundamental Law of Education praises the purpose and goals of education.

The purpose of education is to "cultivate a physically and mentally healthy nation with the qualities necessary to form a peaceful and democratic nation and society, aiming for the perfection of personality." Two purposes are stated: the purpose of "completion of personality" at the individual level and the purpose of fostering the qualities of a "peaceful and democratic nation and society former" as a nation and society former.

Fundamental Law of Education (revised in 2006)

Chapter 1 Purpose and Philosophy of Education

(Purpose of education)

(5) Respect traditions and cultures, love Japan and the hometowns that have nurtured them, respect other countries, and cultivate an attitude that contributes to the peace and development of the international community.

(Philosophy of lifelong learning)

Article 3 Each citizen can study at every opportunity and everywhere throughout his / her life so that he / she can improve his / her personality and lead a prosperous life, and can make the best use of the results. The realization of society must be achieved.

(Equal opportunity for education)

Article 4 All citizens must be given the same opportunity to receive education according to their abilities and will not be discriminated against in education by race, creed, gender, social status, economic status or family origin.

2 National and local governments have persons with disabilities depending on their disability status.

Educational support must be provided to ensure adequate education.

3 The national and local governments must take scholarship measures for those who have difficulty in studying due to financial reasons despite their ability.

Chapter 2 Basics on Implementation of Education

(Compulsory education)

Article 5 The citizens are obliged to have their protected children receive general education as separately provided by law.

2 General education, which is conducted as compulsory education, aims to cultivate the foundation for living independently in society while developing the abilities of each individual, and to cultivate the basic qualities required as a nation and a socialist. It shall be done as.

3 The national and local governments are responsible for the implementation of compulsory education in order to guarantee and secure the level of compulsory education, with appropriate division of roles and mutual cooperation.

4 No tuition fees will be collected for compulsory education at schools established by the national or local governments.

What is the purpose of compulsory education?

In Article 1, the purpose is to complete the two qualities of personality and the formation of the nation and society, but in Article 5-2, "completion of personality" "strengthens the abilities of each individual. It has been replaced by the expression "cultivating the foundation for living independently in society." In other words, the completion of personality is embodied in "cultivation of individual ability and independence".

The School Education Law describes the purpose and goals of education stipulated in the Fundamental Law of Education more concretely by attracting them to the ideal way of school education. Here, we summarize the attitudes and abilities that should be targeted, which are divided into subjects.

★ Whether the above "educational goals" can be used as a basis for evaluation and judgment of "judgment" as a desired ability.

It can be judged that it is desirable that the direction of desirable value judgment is the same as that of the "purpose / goal of education". However, since "the purpose / goal of education" is probably accompanied by values, it is necessary to carefully examine it when using it as the content of "judgment" of "thinking / judgment".
